THE MAISON PICTURE

Managing Stormwater at Home

Living in residential dwellings means people are constantly faced with excess runoff at their properties. Subject to intense rainfall your property could be vulnerable to flooding if stormwater infrastructure is not sufficiently maintained.

Below are some pictures of severe flooding that has occurred over 2014.

Case in point number one – Auckland’s Tamaki Drive flooding – Photos here

Case in point number two –  Christchurch’s severe, repeated flooding – Photos here

Flooding in the two cases above was beyond anyone’s control – but in less severe cases, simple prevention steps should help control flooding and assist the Stormwater system in working effectively.

The team here at AR Civil decided we should share our knowledge of flood prevention- so we threw together this nifty table of what you can do, how to do it, and why it should be done.

As this table demonstrates, none of the prevention strategies mentioned are particularly difficult, and can be carried out by anyone – provided the appropriate care is taken. If you’re interested in reading further information regarding flooding, please click here.
